Quoted in Forbes.com

Today I was quoted in Forbes.com as a result of being interviewed by Tara Weiss, a journalist from Forbes. Tara was putting together a story about interviewing in business casual clothes and if that is appropriate.
"It is essential for job candidates to wear a business suit here" [in the Midwest],..First impressions are everything" - says Sandi Hubert, president of Elite IT Services in St. Louis. This story can be accessed from Elite IT Services news page.
I was excited by the call - for me fashion, clothes and professional dress - that's my forte. I am a business suit connoisseur and probably spend way to much time at Ann Taylor. I am grateful that Tara was led to our website and I thought her story was fair to both sides of the discussion.
I think for women it's paramount in our success in business to dress the professional part. We have to dress for success at the interview and often times overdress in casual work environments to keep our 'business edge'. I say, after you land the job don't take the suit jacket off until you've determined the corporate culture and what's accepted by your superiors and peers - which may not be the same as what is in the employee handbook. What's your first impression? Sandi Hubert
